ISO standards are a universally recognised approach to quality, environmental, health and safety and IT security for services and products, they are rigorously tested and continually developed to ensure the most up to date standardisations are applied across a range of industries.
ISO standards provide a framework to ensure risk management and continual improvement in all aspects of a business, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and demonstrating a company’s best practice and regulatory compliance to the highest standards.
Obtaining ISO standard accreditations is important within asset management and professional services industry, as it provides a hallmark of credibility and reliability and further reassures clients and stakeholders of an organisation’s commitment to quality and excellence.
We spoke to Tom Burton, Deputy Head of Safety, Health and Environment about the ISO standards Imagile Professional Services and Semperian group hold and why these accreditations are important to the business.
Tom Burton said:
“As Deputy Head of Safety, Health and Environment, I’m directly responsible for implementing two out of our four ISO standards – ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
“ISO 14001 looks at environmental management systems, dictating how we manage the environmental impact of our operations and the people who work for us. Internally, we have an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) steering group who are responsible for overseeing and driving initiatives related to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate governance. The primary role of the ESG steering group is to develop, implement, and monitor strategies and practices that align with our ESG goals and values, underscoring our commitment to sustainability.
“The ISO 45001 focuses on health and safety management systems, ensuring the safety of everyone who enters our workplace premises. Given the nature of our work, this accreditation holds immense importance. Our Safety, Health, and Environment team provide advice and guidance on health and safety matters daily, so this accreditation is an essential aspect of our operations.
“As with any ISO standard, we receive annual compliance audits where our documentation is reviewed as well as our practices to ensure we are not only compliant but implementing the standards in our day-to-day business activity. We recently received a comprehensive audit of our ISO 45001 standard and passed the audit with no non-conformities. The auditor commended us for exceeding the standard and acknowledged our consistent improvement year after year, proving our dedication to ongoing progress and excellence.
“These standards are widely recognised within the industry, showcasing our dedication to upholding stringent subjects, systems, and procedures in order to meet the ISO standards. Not only that but it makes IPSL an industry leading company to work for as we prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees and stakeholders.
“Currently, we’re in the process of developing an integrated management system that will seamlessly merge all four of our ISO standards across the wider business. Alongside ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, we’ve also attained ISO 9001 which is focused on quality management systems and ISO 22301 which focuses on business continuity management. This initiative underscores our commitment to streamlining operations and enhancing overall efficiency.”
